ABC News' Kate Barrett Reports: Sarah Palin announced Friday that she will step down from her post as Alaska governor at the end of the month, and will not run for reelection.

Powell Pleads Guilty In Corruption Probe
Attorney Robert Powell made it official yesterday. The attorney from lower Luzerne County pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of failing to report a felony. He also admitted he helped former judges Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan to hide money and file false federal income tax returns. Powell kicked back in excess of $770-thousand to the judges for their role that led the county
State Starts Fiscal Year Without Budget
Pennsylvania's new fiscal year began today July 1, without a state budget. Gov. Ed Rendell and Republican leaders have each signaled no breakthrough is in sight. Aides to the governor say no talks are scheduled for today. Budget talks are particularly tough this year because Pennsylvania has an estimated $3.2 billion revenue shortfall.
