Baker Bill Aids Disaster Response

A new Senate bill would streamline the process for Pennsylvania to lend and receive aid from emergency disaster responders. Senator Lisa Baker, of Luzerne County, has created legislation will set up a Volunteer Health Practitioner Registry System to cut red tape and permit quicker access for professionals to serve across state lines in times of disaster. Senate Bill 1235 will certify the credibility of those who would respond and allows multiple agencies to get involved in coordinating responses. Fourteen other states have adopted similar language.
