The state house has narrowly approved a bill to expand small games of chance from private clubs to bars and taverns. The bill passed by just six votes to allow thousands of bars and taverns to offer small games such as pull tab games, daily drawings and raffles. Opponents fear the expansion will hurt the lottery fund, others cited enforcement concerns. Supporters say it will add money to the state budget and put bars and taverns on a more level playing field. 60% of the proceeds would go to the state with the bars keeping 35% and 5% going to municipalities.
