The Pa. State Police are acting on numerous tips and intensifying their search of the northern Monroe Co/Pike Co area looking for suspected killer Eric Frein. Gov. Tom Corbett announced that progress is being made, and Lt. Col. George Bivens of the PSP says hundreds are now in the search and they are 'close to him'. Those who receive food stamps in Pennsylvania will find federal funding to be less stimulating starting today. The federal stimulus package has expired. That means food stamp benefits, or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, will be reduced by about 5.4 percent. The state Department of Public Welfare, said more than 1.8 million individuals receive SNAP benefits in Pennsylvania. She said recipients received letters notifying them of the cutback. In 2012, the average monthly SNAP benefit per household was $265.86.
