Baker Backs Abuse Bill

The state senate has passed a package of bills designed to strengthen Pennsylvania's child abuse laws in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky and priest sex abuse scandals. The bills are the work of a bipartisan task force and won unanimous approval from the senate. They would set broader rules for who is responsible for reporting suspected abuse as well as better define who can be considered a perpetrator. State Senator Lisa Baker, of Luzerne County, says these are not laws in which the state can tolerate loopholes.
