A police chief of in Lackawanna County was arrested Wednesday, accused of intimidating a witness in a child sex abuse case involving a former teacher at the Lakeland High School. WNEP-TV reports Scott Township police chief James Romano has been off the job since the state attorney generals office began investigating him several weeks ago.
Today a police tactical team picked him up and arrested him at this home in Scott Township. He was arraigned and charged with witness intimidation.
It stems from a sexual abuse case involving a teacher at Lakeland high School.
Chief Romano is accused of starting a sexual relationship with 20-year-old woman who was a witness in the case. According to court paperwork, Romano started a sexual relationship with her after she came forward about the alleged abuse that occurred when she was a minor at Lakeland high School.
