The governor's transportation funding plan attempts to mitigate the impacts on Pennsylvania's cash-strapped consumers.Public safety is at the heart of Governor Tom Corbett's plan to raise $5.4-billion transportation dollars over five years. Corbett knows he could have raised more money by also hiking driver fees, or by not recommending a reduction in the state's gas tax. Meanwhile, local government officials are concerned about the gas tax reduction, because they also get a cut. Many Democrats are also concerned that the Corbett plan would not adequately address the transportation funding crisis.
