The real tragedy in Whitney Houston's death
altText
It was sad but not surprising to hear the news of Whitney Houston's death this weekend. Whether you like the type of music she sang, no doubt she was one of the most gifted singers we've ever had the pleasure of hearing. What was most disturbing to me...

As a breast cancer survivor and fervent Komen supporter, I am extremely saddened by their recent decision to cut funding for breast cancer screening services at Planned Parenthood. There are a lot of people angry, but I can say that I am bitterly...

Here's to a civil New Year
altText
A New Year is here. For many it's a new start. We overeat, overindulge and just plain go to excess for the holidays and this is when we try to right the ship. As I look at 2012, I see a year full of dissention. It's a Presidential Election year and...

My treasured spritz cookie recipe
Every since I was a kid, I absolutely adored my Mom's Spritz cookies at Christmastime. We would sneak the dough and gobble it up while 'helping' her make the cookes every year. Now that I'm a Mom, I share this joy with my kids. My daughter Rachael...

Paterno had to go

Your first reaction is always the best course of action. Too often we talk ourselves out of doing the right thing. Many times, other people will talk us out as well. I don't know what happened in Mike McQueary's mind when he allegedly walked in on Jerry...

Conahan's father takes the heat
altText
Former Luz. Co. Judge Michael Conahan was a different man in federal court than the man many people knew for many years he held public office. Conahan moved quickly up the ladder, District Magistrate, Judge, and then President Judge. People who worked...

Fallout from the Barletta interview

Thought I'd post an email I got from a Barletta supporter, along with my response following the interview Webster & I had with Congressman Lou Barletta Wednesday on the show. I think you owe Lou an apology. You have to be professional at all...

Tremor Envy
altText
Hi. My name is Nancy, and I have tremor envy. At 1:53pm on Tuesday August 24th I was in the car, enroute to an appointment with the veterinarian. I was driving on a road that was under construction and being sprayed with fresh oil. Having just purchased...

It was a depressing weekend, with news of the credit downgrade and the terrible helicopter crash in Afghanistan which killed 31 of our brave heroes. Finger-pointing and blame is being spread all around and what are our esteemed leaders doing? They're on...

Webster's Bio
Born and raised in “nort deest Pee Yay.”

Age? Let’s just say I remember when Captain Kangaroo was the clown on the Howdy Doody show.

Approximately zero percent athletic ability but I didn’t let that stop me from being the ‘star’ 2nd baseman for Gildea’s Pharmacy. To compound my dorkiness and make matters even worse I took accordion lessons as a kid.

In high school I tried out for football but that was way too much like work. Opted instead to wear the cougar suit at football games. (Opposing team cheerleaders think it’s cute when ‘the cougar’ paws them.)
Squeezed 4 years into 5 ½ at East Stroudsburg University, “The Cheapest Resort in the Poconos” graduating with a BS (heh) degree in education. Yes, I was supposed to be a teacher and if I had followed that path I’D BE RETIRED NOW! (I blame my guidance counselors for not seeing the lazy streak a mile wide in me.)

Been in radio since 1980 beginning with a part-time news job on Saturday mornings at WCDL in Carbondale. WILK is the 4th station I’ve worked at. The first was a Sunoco.

Married my lovely wife Karen in 1983, we have two great (grown) kids, John and Emily.

I play the Powerball like it’s my job.

Where Were You?
altText
Okay, we don't get a lot of earthquakes in good ol' \"nort deest Pee Yay\", that is true. So when the earth moves under our feet (or select your cheesy earthquake-related lyric and insert here) it's natural that it gets our attention. But...

Let's Make It Official
\"Quit while you're behind\" is not much of an attitude to take no matter the circumstance but sometimes it just fits. Say for instance you're the head of a police union who lays awake nights trying to figure out how to let the mayor know that you...
