Snow falling in NEPA: causing problems in the Poconos

Scranton/WB expects 4-8 inches-more in Pike and Monroe Counties

Snow continues to fall in NEPA...more so in those areas east of the Interstate 81 corridor. WNEP's Kurt Aaron says 4 to 8 inches is expected in the Scranton and Wilkes Barre area, with higher amounts in the Poconos.  Gov Tom Wolf says some areas are getting very heavy snowfall which is hard to predict. He says two heavy duty tow trucks are positioned along Interstate 84 in Pike County, and one each in Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties to assist with any issues on Interstate 80 or 81. Speed restrictions of 45 mph are in place along all interstates in NEPA. PennDOT has also supplemented staff with workers from western Pa. to help with the cleanup efforts. Gov Wolf asks residents to stay off the roads if at all possible. The commercial truck ban continues on Interstates 84 and 380 with restrictions on certain tractor trailers, RV's, trailers and motorcycles on interstates in the region.
