A grant will give the city of Wilkes Barre $200,000. The money awarded by the state Department of Community and Economic Development will help the city avoid financially distressed status. The announcement of the funding approved by Gov Tom Wolf came yesterday from State Rep John Yudichak and Eddie Day Pashinski at city hall. City council approved Mayor Tony Georges 52 million dollar debt restructuring package last week.
