A pair of state Senate committees is re-examining school safety measures in the aftermath of the tragedy at Sandy Hook. A panel of school superintendents extolled the value of school resource officers before the committees. Wallenpaupack Area Superintendent Michael Silsby would appreciate state aid for S-R-Os. School officials are also asking for help retrofitting old buildings for safety and addressing the mental health needs of their students.
