Bet you never knew some of those video poker machines in bars paid off in real money. Law enforcement made a sweep through Luzerne and Lackawanna counties yesterday, collecting the gaming machines. They were once money-makers, but the arrival of casino gambling in places like Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs siphoned off bar business. The pressure mounted against the illegal machines because casinos pay big bucks to be the only joints with permits to have slot machines.
