After a 5 hour sentencing hearing, before Federal Judge Joel Slomsky, former State Senate Democratic leader Bob Mellow will serve 16 months in prison, then 3 years supervised release and pay 79thousand dollars in restitution and a 40thousand dollar fine. During the hearing Mellow apologized to his family and the public. The 69 year old from Peckville, pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and for filing a bogus tax return. The Judge also accepted Mellow's request to self commit to prison on January 15, 2013.
