The economy and competition has collapsed a Wilkes-Barre Township furniture business that has been in business for more than 35 years. 61 year old David Mayers co-owns Kaplan's Furniture on Mundy Street. It's been in the family from day-one. The rise of stout competition....and a lack of interest among family members to keep Kaplan's going...prompted Mayers to decide that "...it's the right time." The quote is in the Citizens' Voice. The news comes after Bartikowksy Jewelers on South Main in Wilkes-Barre announced the end of it's family-founded and owned operation late last year.
