Luzerne County Controller Walter Griffith is under criminal investigation for illegally recording conversations over the past two years. The investigation reportedly began back in July after Griffith provided recording to a federal grand jury investigating City Vest, the organization that owns the Sterling Hotel. It was the the organizations board chairman who sued Griffith in Luzerne County Court today. Luzerne County DA Stephanie Salavantis has turned the investigation over to the State Attorney Generals Office.
