Ban Cash Gifts

The Senate passed a resolution banning cash gifts to its own legislators and employees, and sent a bill to the House that goes a step further.Senate Bill 1327 would prevent acceptance of cash gifts for ALL state and local public officials and employees. It was passed unanimously and is on its way to the House. Senator Lisa Baker, the bill's sponsor, says there is nothing complicated about it. The measure applies penalties for violations. Cash gifts of $250 or more would be a felony. Amounts less than that would be a misdemeanor.
